emBARK
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
emBARK on a cozy and atmospheric adventure on your little boat with a very telling name – Wish Bone. Alongside your trusty companion, navigate a flooded world, meet different dogs and help them escape their mundane canine lives by ferrying them across an endless misty sea. Listen to their stories of self-discovery, loss, and acceptance, as despite their small stature, they're so much more than just pets. Such problems as losing your spark or looking for the place where you belong are shown through the eyes of a human's best friend with their unique perspective. For them, a volcano is a roaring beast and the lighthouse is a very tall candle. And every voyage leads to a revelation or a quiet acceptance.
As you pass the sunken churches and broken bridges, you might start to wonder – what happened to this world? How can this be all that is left of it? And why do all those dogs want to go beyond the horizon? Maybe this is the one tale you're still waiting to hear.
This game was made in 4 days as a part of AUB Summer Jam.
If this quick proof-of-concept demo receives positive feedback, we're planning to turn it into an actual releasable game. In addition to the basic improvements, we're planning on:
- Adding even more dogs, more stories, more islands, more things to see during your journeys.
- Adding new mechanics, including fishing.
- Adding a journal to keep track of dogs you've met and fun facts you've learned about different breeds.
- Adding an actual narrative and mechanical progression from early to late game.
- Adding different obstacles at sea: from deep waters to rough winds.
- Providing better quality-of-life features, like accessibility settings, rich sound design, and visual upgrades.
⛵️ And may the winds be favorable to you 🐕
